The Pats and the Packers don't play defense

Next week is going to be very interesting. I think the Giants are as dangerous as any team in the league. They almost beat the Packers the first time and have an above average chance to win this time. The first Broncos-Pats game was similar to the first Giant-Packer game. The Pats don't play defense either. They are at risk every week for that reason and the Broncos almost pulled it off the first time. I'm looking forward to both of these games.

1. And SF does play defense, making that an irresistable force/immovable object game

The Giants could topple the Packers, however.

in the New Jersey Stadium and when the Pack was not at full strength. Look for something a bit different this time around. See, the Packers offensive line should be at full strength and they should have all three running backs (and Kuhn) as well as Jennings. And as far as the defense, Matthews has been nursing an ankle injury for about a month and Hawk will be at full strength as well, not to mention Woodson, who is one of the best ever.
And if I remember correctly, the Pats destroyed the Broncos the last time they played. That being said, I sure would like to see the Broncos beat the Pats. Just don't like the Pats.

But teams that don't play defense get exposed in the playoffs. That happens to include the Packers.

15. Define "Play Defense"

I hope you're not one who looks at the preposterously stupid NFL offical ranking which is based on yards.

Ask any Tebow fan: All that matters is winning, and in defense all that matters is minimizing points.

In the points category, both GB and NE are middle of the pack, which indicates that "they don't play defense" is incorrect. They give up yards, but don't give up tons of points, and they take the ball away. The NFL rankings ignore both of those elements of defense.

So, you stick with your definition. I don't buy it.

7. The Packers have a pressure defense. When it works, it's amazing.

When it doesn't, big plays happen. I'm hoping it works this next weekend.

11. and teams that don't play defense don't win championships

they're the two most vulnerable teams in the playoffs, despite their high powered offenses.

The way to beat a team like that is to keep their offense off the field - read: running game. The Giants seem to have turned the corner over the last few weeks and are looking more like the running teams of yore. And the first time the Pats/Donkeys met the Broncos rolled up 167 ground yards in the 1st quarter alone. They were up 16-7 and controlling the game until they turned the ball over 3 times on their side of the field in the 2nd quarter. If I were a Pats fan, I'd be less than sanguine, especially now that Tebow has shown he can burn you on single coverage if you stack the box to stop the run.

The Broncos are a dangerous team with nothing to lose. And they've owned the Pats in recent history. They're the only team that Brady has a losing record against.

12. The problem with that is that neither team is that bad against the running game.

Further, a lot of the yards piled up against those teams came because the opponent had to air it out in a vain attempt to catch up. Their defenses are not great, but they're not as bad as the stats indicate.

13. I don't know - Denver sure ran against them last time they played

252 for the game with 167 in the first quarter. I think that was an all time record for yards on the ground in a quarter for the Pats. Plus the Broncos best running back, McGahee, was injured early in that contest and spent most of the game on the sidelines.

If the Broncos repeat that performance and don't turn the ball over, it could be a long afternoon for Brady and Co.

Don't get me wrong - I'll be rooting for the Donkeys this saturday - but it is hard to imagine them winning this game. I'm just thinking it's a lot more of a possibility than a lot of the Pats fans I've been reading on the internets seem to think it is. This is going to be an interesting game, imo.
