Related: About this forumFantasy football commissioner punishment question
Last week I picked a QB up on waiver so that my opponent couldn't get him. Didn't use him, just grabbed him so he couldn't get him. Now he's dropped.
I just got a message from the commish that I broke an unwritten rule and he ordered me to drop player x and pick up player y - and keep player y on my team through week 10.
Can I just tell him to fuck off? What can he do?

(68,918 posts)Some leagues (fleaflicker for instance) allow the commissioner to boot a player for those types of things.

This has potential to get ugly. I still think he should piss off.
He's more pissed because I did it to his brother in law.

(9,002 posts)I'm a little more than pissed about this... and debating whether sabotage my team (and Andrew Jackson) by making lopsided trades to help out people that aren't the commish, his gf, or his family.

(9,002 posts)This "unwritten rule" bs - should have written it down,

Keeping players from other managers is part of the game.
There is no such rule, unwritten or otherwise.

(9,002 posts)Whatever happens, this could make for a sucky work environment.

(47,552 posts)Play out the string. And then decide if you want to play again next year.
Don't freak out. Gotta keep the peace.
If you stay in the league, though, make sure they write down that rule. (Should be interesting to watch them try to come up with the wording...lol.)

(22,340 posts)Unwritten rule, my ass. If it were me, I would start a message for the whole league and ask them what they think about it. Nobody (other than the guy you probably screwed and even he should understand) should think that was a shitty thing to do.

But I still don't understand this ordering of what to do with my roster. I plan to just ignore it - and see what happens.
If he really wants to push the issue, as I mentioned above I will go full kamikaze to wreck his (and his gf, gf's brother) chances.

(22,340 posts)I thought I said nobody would see it as shitty. If you did that to me, my response would be "well played."
I would just ignore it.

(16,113 posts)but if you want to use a roster spot for a player, I don't see the issue. It's part of the game.
By cycling the wire (if you're not familiar with the term), I mean adding and then immediately dropping players so that their 2 day "claim" period resets and no one can grab them for 2 days while they clear waivers. If you pick up a guy and hold them through game time, though, which sounds like what you did, it's just part of the game.
As far as "what CAN he do", it depends on how much power you give to your commish. In my baseball league, my commish has essentially absolute power to do virtually anything they want, but thankfully, we have a pretty fair minded guy in that role.
