As of Jan. 24, the cheapest ticket listed on NFL Ticket Exchange (the leagues official resale site) was $1,779. That is $409 cheaper than the cheapest ticket on the site with nine days remaining before the big game last year and $809 cheaper than two years ago.

There are a couple of potential explanations for this, starting with the weather. While the impact of the cold and wind on the actual game has been somewhat overblown in the Super Bowl buildup, its still no fun for many fans to sit outside for four hours in those conditions.
Throw in the ever-improving television experience for watching football that the NFL has had to deal with all year in terms of trying to sell tickets, and it's not much of a stretch to predict that many fans will elect to stay home this year.

I really don't any northern city building an NFL stadium today without a retractable roof.

(68,918 posts)the Packers, Steelers, and even the stupid 49ers and Cowboys do. There aren't going to be a lot of fans who will want to drive up and still pay that kind of money for two teams that are just whatever (outside of the Peyton pull).
