Broncos extend John Elway, add GM title..

The Denver Broncos gave John Elway a three-year contract extension and have now given him the general manager title in addition to being executive vice president of football operations, according to the Denver Post.

Elway was heading into the last year of his original contract from 2011.

Elway is under contract through 2017 now.

Elway is the architect of a Super Bowl roster, with the Broncos getting trounced, 43-8, by the Seattle Seahawks.

"There are some changes we've got to make and we'll make those." Elway said recently "The goal has not changed and it will not change. We will use this as an experience that we went through, be disappointed that we didn't play better, but the bottom line is this organization and what Pat Bowlen wants from this organization, that has not changed and it will not change.

who of their starts are really that old? Welker, Phillips, and their safety are 32. At receivers they have Thomas and Decker. The other defensive line starters are young but are the Broncos really hurting with Phillips on the team? Mike Adams at their safety, they recently drafted Sun Devil Omar Bolden who may or may not be an adequate replacement. He was great in college (missed almost enitirely 2 seasons due to injury).

I think they made a good move in drafted Brock Osweiller who I felt needed 1 more year in college as he was still a bit rough around the edges but certainly had the talent. This was the best situation for him to be drafted in and we'll see what happens when they hand him the keys but from a GM standpoint, time will tell if Bolden and Osweiller were good moves.

but I think as far as starters go, they seem to be in good shape. A lot of the old guys seem to be backups or nickel-backs such as Quintin Jammer. Paris Lenon is the oldest guy on their defense and he is a reserve.

Offense they have potentially solid young replacements for Welker & Manning. Center may be a different issue but something they may not have to deal w/ for at-least a few years.

On edit - Detroit is the oldest team, they just got younger by releasing Burleson. Akers is probably why they're the oldest. Shaun Hill is also a reason.
