Aztecs did what they needed to do to win, they just didn't do it long enough. More players were involved in scoring; they didn't leave that up to Xavier Thames. Defense was excellent. But, for a team that prides itself on finishing, they didn't finish. There was a stretch of eight minutes or so, roughly from 10:00 remaining to 2:00 remaining, during which it looked like the Aztecs did not get a single rebound. The stronger team wore them down, but they were never intimidated, and were never beaten.

Hell of a year for a team that was supposed to finish fourth in the Mountain West.

Arizona was just nailing threes late in the game. Something they were unable to accomplish in the first half. Also, the Aztecs shot under 40%! I think they put up over 15 shots before scoring 6 pts. Great rebounding as usual, but that's only going to get you so far when you can't finish shots, and they had a lot of good looks early in. Arizona is going to have to step it up against Bucky, who looked pretty strong tonight.
