Stunting and mixing coverages, and solid pressure in the backfield.
I have said it from the beginning...NFL defenses will quickly learn to shut down the option and force Tebow to become a passing quarterback.
Problem with that--- a 46 percent accuracy rating and happy feet in the pocket---attributes that you do not want your QB to have.
I'm sure some will chime in with-- What about the Steeler game?
Listen---with receivers that wide open against a team with 6 missing starters, shit---I could have thrown for touchdowns.
Throw that game out and what you have is a guy who lost 4 out his last 5 games because NFL Defenses have figured him out.
Bill B. simply fined-toothed it last night.....

(47,953 posts)The way Brady was throwing, 90% of teams would have lost to the pats yesterday.
I suppose the real lesson is that the Bronco's can't win against a high powered offense. They lost to the Lions the same way. No disgrace in that.
People want to put this all on Tebow's head, but really, outside of the elite offenses (GB and NO, maybe Detroit), who would have stood up to and matched a 35 point barrage in the first half alone?

(47,953 posts)Being way ahead helps a defense immeasurably. All they have to do is pin their ears back and attack.
I'm not going to argue that Denver has a great, or even good offense. But I'm not going to say that the Pat's defense suddenly turned onto the 2000 Ravens, either. In any case, next year will be interesting.
He should have held on to the ball a bit better when he had the first possession.

(41,692 posts)The team as a whole isn't that bad.
I mean---it's an 8-8 team for sure and has much more to improve upon... but they aint gonna get to the next level with Mr. 46 percent at the helm.

(56,177 posts)Brady will suffice as a back-up...problem is, Denver is one crazy city...they really like Teblow...it may take 0-16 next year for them to wise up!

(41,692 posts)To Jacksonville for instance. J-Ville has the 7th pick and I wouldn't be surprised if those clowns went after him.
Tebow would increase attendance for sure.

(31,167 posts)Jacksonville didn't come to my mind, just the trade. But I can see it.
You know Elway is seething inside.

(5,997 posts)Denver had a 3rd and 22 - and Tebow handed off to his running back. That's all you need to know about Tebow's future as a QB in the NFL.

60 percent accuracy rating.
46 percent is anemic.

(45,984 posts)I know, I know, it takes two or three seasons to build a quarterback. But Tebow isn't improving and the defenses know what to do against him.
I predict he'll be released after next season.
Old and In the Way
(37,540 posts)they pretty much agreed that he best learn some new tricks if he wants a long term career in the NFL. If the #31 D in the league has his O figured out...he's in big trouble. Maybe he should concentrate on his passing mechanics instead of performing circumcisions during the off-season.

(41,692 posts)Proves the Defenses have figured him out.
He got lucky that he ran into a injury depleted Steelers team in the first playoff game.

(29,149 posts)In the regular season, the offense averaged less than 17 points per game with him at the helm. Barely over 17 ppg if you factor in the playoffs. Not the worst in the league, but there aren't a lot of wins for the teams below them. In 5 of his 11 regular season starts the offense didn't score more than one touchdown. On average, Tebow threw for more yards in the regular-season losses than he did in the wins.
What percentage of teams who score 18 points or fewer in a game win that game? I don't know the numbers, but I'm guessing such teams, on the whole, have a losing record. But the Broncos were 5-3 this year when scoring 18 points or fewer. And they were 3-2 in games where they scored one or fewer TDs.
Defense, baby.

well, duh.
Meanwhile, John Elway must be laughing up his sleeve. Deciding to defer to the fans and play Tebow was a win-win -- if Tebow excels, he looks like a genius; if Tebow doesn't, it's the fans' fault for coming up with such a dumb idea!
