FIBA Tournament - Proof There's No Defense In The NBA

Oh wait. I meant the EXACT OPPOSITE.

The game today between Brazil and France was 58 to 51 with MINUTES LEFT TO GO IN THE FREAKING GAME!

I played on a high school team in the early 70's that averaged over 70ppg. Less minutes more points than 2 teams in a longer game that both had 2 or 3 NBA players on it.

Why?

Because 20 years ago these games would end 120 to 114. But, now that all these teams have NBA players on it, and 3/4ths of them have coaches who have spent time as assistant in the NBA, the concept of winning with good defense is now entrenched.

Now, these other teams know the only way they can win a championship is by playing good D. Nobody is good enough offensively to win when EVERYONE is playing defense.

So, the next time you hear someone say or see someone write "there's no defense in the NBA", know that they have NO CLUE! NONE!

If you put an NBA team against any team not playing defense, they'd score 200 points a night.

The whole game has changed now that the international teams all have NBA vets on them. The whole tenor has changed because nobody is lazy on defense any more.

I'm watching Finland and the US right now. The US is killing them, but Finland can't defend at this level because they're not used to it. But, there is no NBA player on Finland.

Watch the rest of this tournament. I guarantee the more and better NBA players on the team, the lower the scores will be.
