(65,168 posts)Division winner gets in no matter how sad, but any team without a record above .500 becomes a wild card team and the better WC team gets a playoff game. Reseeding the conference to winnow the poor teams as it were.

(10,893 posts)it would be more fair to re-arrange it to where the 16 teams with the best records in both conferences automatically get in, instead of the division winners. Some teams luck out and play in sorry divisions, while others have either .500 or above and still don't make it.
