https://news.yahoo.com/manny-pacquiao-talks-to-katie-couric-about-fight-of-the-century-165351824.htmlThe father of five is deeply religious and philanthropic, but he says he wasnt always that way. I drank, womanizing, gambling, everything. But when I surrendered my life to the Lord, when I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and savior, I surrendered my whole life....
Win or lose, Pacquiao says he has no plans to hang up his gloves anytime soon and still feels as fit and strong as ever....
As for his political future, when asked by Couric if he will run for president of the Philippines one day, he replies, I dont know. Its in Gods hands.
Yikes! Even Evander Holyfield wasn't that much of a Bible-thumper! Go Floyd!

(6,279 posts)Christianity in much of the Philippines is ubiquitous, but from what I saw on my one trip there is much more a welcoming phenomenon than we often see among those thumping Bibles hardest here.
H2O Man
(73,651 posts)As the boxing community knows, Manny approaches his brand of christianity much in the way some newly-sober folks approach AA: he insists that everyone needs to follow in his exact foot-steps, and that they recognize his as the leader of his club.
I definitely respect Pacquiao as a fighter. And I admire the good work he does for the poor and suffering in his country. But I do not regard him as a theologian.
KamaAina
(78,249 posts)I am probably not 100% objective, in terms of how I think their 5-2 fight will play out. But in terms of what I've seen of Manny practicing his religion, Floyd ain't a factor.

It's a shame they can't both lose.
He is very judgmental. Obnoxiously so.
