Chihuahuas win division title!
The El Paso Chihuahuas, in just their second season of existence, are going to the Pacific Coast League playoffs.
The Chihuahuas showed great resilience Sunday night, scoring three runs in the top of the 10th inning to defeat Reno 7-4. That, coupled with Tacoma's 6-3 win over Las Vegas, clinches the Pacific Coast League Pacific Southern Division for the Chihuahuas.
El Paso will open the Pacific Conference Championship series Wednesday night in Fresno. The first two games of the best-of-five series will be played in Fresno Wednesday and Thursday, games three, four and five (if necessary) will be played at Southwest University Park on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
El Paso has a 78-65 record going into today's meaningless regular season finale and Las Vegas is 77-66.
If the two finish tied at the end of the regular season, El Paso still advances to the playoffs by virtue of winning the regular season series between the two teams 10 games to six.
