49er fans vent frustrations

I was a season-ticket holder for 34 years at the Stick. I’ve been to all the Super Bowls, then bought two seat licenses at Levi’s. I sold those licenses as soon as last season was over. I sensed the era of greatness was over. One year at the characterless, soulless, steel-and-concrete monstrosity called Levi’s was enough. The place doesn’t have the ambiance of a loud, energized football stadium. Perhaps it was built more for concerts and truck shows than football.

I have been a fan since the days of John Brodie and Gene Washington. I was forever “faithful” during the lean years before (Bill) Walsh and again before (Jim) Harbaugh and have been summarily rewarded with many great memories including the five Super Bowl trophies. However, the 49ers that we are given now do nothing to maintain my faithfulness. I am disgusted with everything Forty Niner today. Everything they do is in the name of money and greed. I am a season-ticket holder and an owner of SBLs but I would sell them in a heartbeat if given an offer to break even. Sold-out SBLs mean nothing as the 49ers’ brain trust had the foresight to tear everything down after they had my money comfortably in their pockets. I now feel I am a hostage of their fantasy. I am forced to buy my season tickets every year or I will forfeit my SBL privileges. So I do as I must and hope I can break even by reselling them on Ticketmaster. I certainly won’t be making any effort to attend any games in person. If (Jed) York wants to measure the loyalty of his fan base, he ought to offer to buy back the SBLs. Of course, that will never happen because he would have people breaking down the doors to get in on that deal.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As a longtime 49er fan, I can only say what a disappointment this organization has become. I almost expect some sort of alert telling me a player has been arrested.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I happen to be one of those longtime 49ers faithful and this year I am feeling a total release from being a fan. I can’t and don’t want to take the time from my precious Sunday, Monday or any other day to watch and/or listen to a broadcast. And actually feeling very sad about that.

The Yorks are losing their faithful fans. I've always had the feeling they never bothered to connect with them anyhow -- not like Eddie D did. I don't feel sorry for them either.

Seahawks fans talk about last year's Thanksgiving game there feeling less like a road game for them. The 49ers might have a fancy new stadium, but they put a damper on their home-field advantage. With the setting now in Santa Clara, it has attracted a somewhat different crowd, and crowd noise hasn't been as much of a factor for the new stadium as the 'Stick.

is brutally hot. Epic fail number one.

Parking sucks and public transit is waek. Epic fail number two.

Seat licenses were too expensive for many faithful. Epic fail number three.

And, as you point out, the fucking thing is in Santa Clara.

LET'S GO RAIDERS!!!

won't make those same mistakes as the 49ers once it's time for their new stadium, and hopefully they'll stay in NorCal. It'll be tough to continue supporting them if they move out of town again.
