Hey sports forum group hosts... all two of you.

I thought we were policing ourselves in this group.

I post a defense of Gronk thread and some 3rd stringer comes in and alerts on it which means it went to a jury who wouldn't know Gronk if he hit them upside the head---and of course they hide it.

One juror informed me that I need a course in Civil Discourse.

Fuck that!

There are three hosts. And they aren't the ones who do the jury thing.

Why not copy the jury decision here so we can see it? What was the verdict? 6 to 0?

You don't need a course in civil discourse. You need a course in how to detach yourself from the keyboard.

But in your defense, it took about 15 hours for someone to alert your post. 15 hours????

A randomly-selected Jury of DU members completed their review of this alert at Sat Feb 11, 2012, 03:59 PM, and voted 4-2 to HIDE IT.

Juror #1 voted to HIDE IT and said: Could have made his point without insulting other forum members.
Juror #2 voted to HIDE IT and said: What the alerter said.
Juror #3 voted to HIDE IT and said: Not only should this post get hidden, this poster should get a warning explaining what civil discourse means.
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to HIDE IT and said: No explanation given
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Par-for-the-course in Sports.. far as I know, this type of thing is ok in the sports forum, but only there.. gotta wonder if the alerter is someone with a personal grudge against Trumad?

CONSEQUENCES OF THIS DECISION

Put the obvious alerter on your non-juror list. Trouble is, so many uninitiated float by here that you can't exclude them all.

My crime at (that !@^%&) Huff Post, was that I complained that they had articles, 24/7/365 on the front page, about someone (I refuse to bring politics and/or religion into the sports section). I kept asking why...and some Twit-in-Charge didn't like it and banned me. I've NEVER looked at them or their !#$%# site again.

Gotta say...loves the DU!

After all the conversation about the alert police here...I had my first ever run in with them as well.

wow...these folks are, well, kinda over the top about their "job".

I used a word that I was unaware, was forbidden on the DU (no! not something racial or bigoted or obscene or any other number of words). I would have been happy to say sorry, but these alert persons are...well, ruthless. Again...wow.

SO....while the DU is just another site, amongst thousands and thousands, and I enjoy it, it most certainly makes me, at this point in time,
reconsider the site for posts and donations.

Sign me off tonight as...amazed.

Well, except for the douche comments but I'm not gonna win that one.

I hate that someone who doesn't know the Sports Forum rules on a post here but I guess that's what we get with the random jury idea.

It was a valid discussion on a sports injury. We have those all the time.

To the anonymous "third stringer:" if you don't like the way we discuss things here show some balls and tell us directly.

Coward.

I could almost agree with the hide were trumad calling out specific people by name... I don't think there was anyone who felt personally insulted by it.

And in fact, while the point could have been made other ways, it would scarcely have been worth reading without the abrasive style. Next thing they'll be asking Rude Pundit to use fewer four-letter words...

Just my opinion. But I have been on quite a few juries and the alerts have really been quite childish. Heck one person alerted that a picture of Pink Slime shouldn't be used when talking about McDonald's. The picture was from the article that was at the link. Or even this particular one. I love your posts Trumad. But we seem to have a group of people who don't frequent this forum that think when we trash talk it's making fun of them. Why does everyone take everything so personally?? It's not always about you - or anyone. It was a euphemism. It was a post commenting on the message boards and stupid pundits. My God.

Why are they picking on you, man??

A few Alert Rats scurrying around alerting anything that makes them dizzy.

A Jury that sometimes misses context---and who never enters the sports group.
