Bud Black is the new Rockies manager
For the first time the Colorado Rockies will turn to a former pitcher to guide the team.
The Rockies have reached agreement with Bud Black to be their manager, according to a major league source. There was no immediate official announcement from the team Sunday night.
Black will take over for Walt Weiss, who resigned one day after the season ended following four years running the team.
Black is familiar with the Rockies and the National League West, having managed San Diego from 2007-2015. He was named National League manager of the year in 2010. Black has a 649-713 record as a manager. He also had a 15-year career as a major league pitcher....
