Bill King wins Ford C. Frick award for broadcasting
Late A’s broadcaster Bill King, known as one of the best three-sport announcers in history, was named the winner of the 2017 Ford C. Frick Award on Wednesday after finishing as a finalist for the honor seven times.
King, beloved for his superb work on the Raiders and Warriors as well as the A’s, was the erudite voice behind some of the most memorable moments in Bay Area sports. He called championship victories for all three teams, connecting generations of fans.

Long overdue. Just as famous (or infamous) for calling Raiders and Warriors games (the only NBA announcer to draw a technical foul) he covered baseball with the same degree of professionalism, insight and drama. Wonderful broadcaster.
