In 2014, fans of the Oakland Raiders traveled to see their team play in London. In November, they flew to Mexico City to cheer for the silver and black.
Will they fly to Las Vegas when a Raiders stadium opens there in a few years? Dont bet on it.
Not happening, Nancy Dowell, a season-ticket holder, said as she sipped on a large Coke at Rickys Sports Theatre & Grill in San Leandro.
It was just after noon Monday on her birthday, and the lifelong fan, wearing a black Raiders cap with rhinestones, didnt want to grieve at home.
Theyre just not moving the team, Dowell, 52, said. Theyre taking family. I have to say I havent had a worse birthday present.

***No, I would never go to Las Vegas to see the Raiders, but I will follow them, the best I can. Once a Raiders fan, always, a Raiders fan, I guess.

(10,893 posts)with the current Raiders franchise. I have nothing personal against the players or coaches, but screw Mark Davis and screw any so-called Raider fan who supported them leaving Oakland not once, but twice. To Hell with the out-of-town fans who disparage us as "fake fans" and "city fans". He was completely disrespectful to the city, and it was obvious he lied about wanting to stay here as he kept moving the goal posts (no pun intended) and stopped returning the city's calls. He's Vegas's problem now. I won't be surprised if he ends up pulling the same thing about 30 years down the line when he gets tired of his new adult playground. I hope the city of Oakland can sue them and find a way to at least retain the Raiders' name and colors or make them pay the money owed for the Coliseum debt.

(41,831 posts)and there is NO other Team I would support, not even the Chargers. Its either follow the Raiders as a team and be an "Oakland Raiders" fan or give up any NFL all together. Sports teams are heading to San Jose and other places. I am glad the Raiders didn't end up in San Antonio, or where ever they were going in Texas, but Vegas isn't that far away. I am sure the Radio stations will still cover them, if not...than I guess I will give up my support or watching anything NFL including the superbowl.
I have always loved NFL football but Major League Baseball came first for me and the San Francisco Giants, the ONLY MAJOR league team IN THIS CITY.
