Earl Thomas to sign with Baltimore Ravens
It has been long anticipated that the Seattle Seahawks would watch All World safety Earl Thomas depart in free agency for another team willing to meet his contractual demands. The drama started last spring when he held out of voluntary workouts, and then continued through OTAs and training camp.
The dispute between Thomas and his contract came to a brief halt when he reported to the team in time to play in the Week 1 loss to the Denver Broncos. However, that respite was certainly short lived, as Thomas broke his leg for the second time in less than two calendar years in the Week 4 win over the Arizona Cardinals.
The image of Earl flipping off the team while being carted off the field will remain the last memory of Thomas in a Hawks uniform, however, as reports now indicate that he will be a member of the Baltimore Ravens moving forward.
That is nearly exactly in line with the reports of what his contractual demands were last spring and summer, so it appears as though in the long run Thomas got what he wanted out of his holdout.
