The latest twist in the surprising saga between Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks is the discussion about whether or not the eight-time Pro Bowler will ask to be traded.
Per Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, one source described the situation with Wilson and the Seahawks as being "fluid" even though the star quarterback has yet to request a trade.
The situation between Wilson and the Seahawks seemingly came out of nowhere this week.
Jason La Canfora of 105.7 The Fan reported Monday that people in Wilson's camp have "grown increasingly frustrated" with the lack of protection from Seattle's offensive line throughout his career.

(17,331 posts)but I think it's worth adding that JJ Watt (who turns 32 in March and has his best years behind him) was in the final year of his contract.
Watson (age 25 with his best years likely ahead of him) is under contract until 2025.
So there's a very critical difference there. That said, if I were in Deshaun's shoes, I would also be frustrated with being stuck with an organization that has recently shown no indications of going anywhere for the foreseeable future.

Watson did sign an extension with considerable money at signing. He is one of the top 2-3 QBs in his age group so there will be resistance in letting him go. I personally think they should get want they can from him and move on.
There are better analogies. Letting Andrew Luck walk away in retirement instead of paying back his prorated signing bonus while both Barry Sanders and Calvin Johnson had to pay theirs back. Says something about the Lions.
Stafford got a trade because, at his age, he didn't fit well with the Lions rebuild.
You are right about it seems that white players seem to force trades easier than black players. Elway and Eli Manning are two examples. Ramsey and Brown were able to force trades though.
The majority of franchises go for decades without getting a QB the quality of Watson. Usually teams do a bit better job managing that relationship, but many good young QBs have been ruined over the years.

(31,194 posts)Give me an average QB with an excellent O-line over an excellent QB with an average O-line.
We saw how vulnerable O-line injuries made Mahomes in the Super Bowl. Why, he was almost mortal.
I'll take the same with the D-line.
