KU Stays Mostly Calm, UK Goes Wild Following NCAA Title Game

LAWRENCE, Kan. — The Kansas Jayhawks were unable to pull out another come-from-behind finish on the court on Monday night, losing to Kentucky 67-59 in the NCAA men’s basketball championship game in New Orleans.

But police in Lawrence say that Jayhawk fans, for the most part, remained calm following the game. Authorities say that there were a few incidents, but nothing like the scene in Lexington, Kentucky, where celebrating Kentucky fans set numerous small fires, and one person was wounded by gunfire.

According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, police say that they could not locate the gunman, who disappeared into a crowd. The victim was taken to University of Kentucky Medical Center in serious condition.

Police in Lexington handed out numerous citations for alcohol-related offenses, and dozens of people were arrested for charges like criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and setting fires, the Courier-Journal reported.

i'm glad to know that there is one town in America, Lawrence, where no one gets shot.
Alcohol does that disorderly conduct and etc. thing.
All that said, Why these attacks? Lexington is a fine town. When the barbarians from the tribal regions spend 5 or 6 years here they generally go back to Hooterville much more progressive. So now you only have to wait about another 209 days or so until next year, good luck, we'll be back.
GO BIG BLUE

The only thing you want to shoot in Lawrence is yourself.

So this article tells me Lawrence was lacking celebration after the loss.... uh---no duh.

That's not exactly lacking celebration. Actually they had a big street party. Just didn't shoot anyone.

Also consider the sources, A Kansas City Fox TV station, that's some good professional news there and the GODDAMN LOUISVILLE COURIER-JOURNAL!!
WTF would the loser Louisville newspaper say???
The Fox affiliate also reported fires, fights, and threats of "shooting up the block" in the sleepy village of Lawrence. The funniest was tearing down the traffic signal wires "at the corner of 13th and Kentucky"..... LOL
The shooting in Lexington was about drug dealers from LOUISVILLE getting shot.
I, know how to win and lose. We are 3 and 2 in National Championship games in my lifetime.
The only thing I ever burned was a joint.

We had a great time in Lexington yesterday, 4000 at the airport, cars parked on the road all the way into town and a "sold out" Rupp Arena with 20,000 plus fans to see Kentucky hang banner # 8.

Do you even read the links you post?
"Roberts says police don't typically identify wounded victims, but Calloway has outstanding criminal warrants in Indiana."
Whatever the blog xfinity is it is not "my media". Nor is Fox, your other source, nor is the Louisville Courier-Journal your other source.
I could not care less what happens to the violent out of town fucking drug dealer shot.
Did you mean to be such a poor loser?
You can piss on our parade but don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining.

It doesn't. "Outstanding criminal warrants" doesn't automatically mean drugs.

I posted a link to a Kentucky media source. Sorry I don't know exactly which Kentucky media source you would prefer.

No one is raining on your parade. Kentucky fans shooting each other appear to be doing that all by themselves. And my posting an article about how YOUR fans celebrate a win doesn't make me a poor loser or a parade pisser.

The police I know told me. I am not rich or powerful but I do know what goes on in this city. I work in public and have for 35 years.
I could care less if some asshole drug dealer is shot. Being in a car in Lexington does not necessarily mean you are a fan. Looks like a drug business opportunity gone bad.
Pointing out the 'riots' in Lexington and not letting go is a reaction to what? Getting Beat?.... petty

Quit defending thugs because they share geography with you.

The shooting happened after some people in a vehicle who were in Lexington for the celebration had exchanged words with some bystanders, police said. A person on the sidewalk opened fire with a handgun, hitting a man who had exited the vehicle, according to police.

No arrest had been made in the shooting. Bastin says police will continue to investigate crimes that occurred and asked for the public’s help in identifying those involved by visiting http://www.idthisperson.com .

Calloway has outstanding criminal warrants on drug-related charges in Indiana and was being held for extradition once he recovers, Roberts said.

What do you want?

Lexington Kentucky, where the riot never stops except during ass kicking basketball games, has a riot scheduled for Friday evening at Cheapside Place, code named Celebratory Block Party. After that riot we are rioting for our # 1 ranked baseball team.
Oh yes, the riot at Keeneland, opening day Friday, will present a problem for the rioter that like to be at them all.

The shooting occurred near University of Kentucky Hospital, several blocks from the main celebration on Limestone, as the crowd was dispersing. The victim, Harold Calloway of Louisville, was shot in the foot. The injury required that his foot be amputated, police said.

Calloway has outstanding felony warrants for drug trafficking pending from Indiana, Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said.

Lt. J.J. Lombardi said the shooting occurred about 2:15 a.m. Calloway was in a vehicle with friends and got out after an argument with people on the sidewalk.
