Mute biased Bob Costas. Sync with the MLB audio app instead.

You need the $20 MLB audio subscription and a way to delay the telecast by 15-20 seconds (streaming and/or DVR required) but it works.

MLB audio is one way I follow the Guardians from out-of-market during regular season. I get to listen to Tom Hamilton and Jim Rosenhaus who offer way better game insight and a deliver a much more exciting experience than when the game is telecast nationally, especially during the playoffs with announcers like biased Bob or dreary Joe Buck.

Yankee fans can listen to their local announcers too (though if you're listening to Costas, you already are).

Same goes for fans of the Phillies, Dodgers, Padres, and Astros. IMO national baseball telecasts are dumbed-down to appeal to a larger audience. Listen to the local radio guys. It's way better.

Was rooting for the Guardians, being from Cleveland originally, and found myself thinking this was somehow staffed by a NY contingent. Costas was clearly biased. Ron Darling (who I went to college with) has been the Mets announcer for over 15 years, but didn’t seem to have the same bias.

but have found there’s a delay between the radio and TV feeds. We would like nothing more than watching the game while listening to Hammy and Rosie call it.

Costas has been a big disappointment. I actually watched with the sound off last night so I wouldn’t get angry.

I think his pro Yankee bias is readily apparent, and it’s annoying to us fans of the teams they play.
Hammy and Rosenhaus are wonderful. Too bad the national networks don’t employ Underwood and Manning, the Guards’ home TV broadcasters. They are informative without feeling like they have to yap non stop and fill up every half second of silence.

Your system sounds very clever, Auggie 👍

On another note, will the NY papers summarize last night’s game with the headline JUDGE HITS HOME RUN!

Yeah. And how many times did TBS producers replay that Judge home run?

I used that system to listen to the 2010 and 2012 World Series with the Giants, albeit on AM radio before streaming was available. Used it for the Giants WS in 2014, the Indians' WS in 2016, and their playoff in 2017.

Costas grew up a Yankees fan. He shouldn't be calling their games. He shouldn't be calling any games. He's a washed-up hack. Years ago the Giants allowed him to call a local radio broadcast with Al Michaels. It was embarrassingly bad.

Tonight: Need to work the counts on Cole and get him out early. If Quantrill gives us 6 good innings we have the trio of Stephan, Karinchak and Clase fresh and ready in the bullpen. They can do this.

Gabriel Arias -- two hits! Who could have called that?

Costas and Michaels together?? Yikes. I’d mute that altogether.

Lack of a closer looms large over the Yanks. I’m sure they’ll be shopping for one this winter, especially since Chappy seems to be gone. Clase signed a 5 - year deal with Cleveland, so we can look forward to having him around for a while.

I agree on your strategy for tonight. Wear Cole out as much and as early as possible. I hope Karinchak gets it under control. His last outing Friday was less than stellar. Hentges and Stephan have been such a boost for us in the bullpen this year.

Arias, just a total surprise last night. We’ll take it!

I know what you mean about radio announcers. They are better because they are used to having to describe things well, because they don't have the video to fall back on. All the announcers in SF rotate with radio and TV announcing. Even during the game they will swap places with a radio guy during the middle innings. I also like announcers who actually played the game like out two main TV guys Duane Kuiper anf Mike Krukow. They are very informative and I have learned a lot about the game from them. And for a long time Giants fan, they have great stories to tell. They played in the 70s and 80s with a lot of the great ones.
