(23,099 posts)One used to nest on top of a building I walked by every day and it was spectacular. Best was when she swooped into the river and came up with a fish. I could never see when there were babies in the nest, but I could hear them, especially when mommy came to feed them.

(6,555 posts)You could not walk across the bridge once the babies hatched until they left the nest. The parents would "dive bomb" you! I loved to watch them raise their little ones.
Saturday I realized we have a nest of woodpeckers in the back. I can't see the babies, the nest is high in one of our oak trees, but I can see the parents feeding them in turns - pretty damn cool as far as I'm concerned.

I never know how many eggs there are, so this year = 2; 2 years ago, there were 3!
