(892 posts)The ospreys I have watched before have been excellent parents.
I learned an interesting fact about ospreys last year. They keep their nests clean by hanging their booties out over the edge of their nest whenever they "do their business," thus keeping the nest free of urine and feces! I watched an osprey cam every single day last year and, yep, that is indeed what they do!
Maybe all birds do this. I really don't know. It's pretty smart. Who wants a stinky nest anyway?

Yes, they do their business AWAY! Some friends have caught pics of that action; not sure that I ever have.
As my grandfather from Brooklyn woulda said.
Don't recall hearing that, mebbe 'cause Grandpa lived in the Bronx???
I, however, lived in Brooklyn (til I was 9 Dad grew up in 'upper' Manhattan.
