John Madden - What a guy! - From ESPN

I always did like John Madden. But this lengthy piece from ESPN tells you what an intriguing fellow he really is. With friends ranging from football players to Pat Summerall to Peggy Fleming to Yoko Ono, he's got to be interesting, and he is! Enjoy:

Coach, broadcaster, esports icon: Inside the legacy of John Madden

Ryan Hockensmith

As John Madden turns 85, those who know him best share the stories that capture how he changed the sports we watch, how we watch them and how our kids -- and their kids -- will learn football.

She was stuck in PA, and she and John shared the same agency. He offered her a ride with him on his bus across the US, and they became great friends.

He was one of the most knowledgeable color people in the buisness. He was both enjoyable and he knew so much about football it was educational. Happy bday Mr. Madden.

Loved him ever since. Had many Hall of Famers play on those teams. Watching Ray Guy punt made me want to become a punter. I thought you were supposed to bounce it off the 3 yard line out of bounds every time because he did so seemingly automatically. That whole team looked like a bunch of convicts on work release. Aw the 70's!
