Your biggest gaming leap..for lack of better subject description

What was your biggest gaming leap and when? My first system was the Atari 1200, or whatever it was, then I had every Nintendo up to the Wii for the Zelda games. Of course each generation got better. However, my biggest leap would have been this past year where I went from a Wii that was gathering dust to a PS4, talk about being blown away. First game I played with it was Assassin's Creed Black Flag. When my guy first climbed one of the vistas and looked out...wow.

1. When I went from a Nintendo DS broken and beaten

That I hadn't used in years, to my first custom built PC.

A Gigabyte GTX770 based build. i7-4770k OC with a Noctua NH-D14 cooler mounted on an Asus Z-87 Pro with 16gb of Corsair ram and booting off a Samsung 840pro ssd.

All hooked up to an Asus 1440p monitor

Still running it, probably going to upgrade to a second 770 soon and hopefully third at somepoint.

Soooo much fun to play with. Not quite enough power to max fps modern games, but more than enough for most, and 1440p 60fps is glorious

Best thing I've seen on it was a heavily, heavily modded Skyrim scene. I was running around 200+ visual mods all playing surprisingly nice together after patching them. I was getting around 2 fps, but each frame was possibly the most gorgeous thing ever then I broke the game completely, and had to reinstall it for the 5th or 6th time...

2. Back in 1995 I jumped from an Amiga 500 to a Win95 based PC.

7.16Mhz 68000 processor to a 100Mhz Pentium

3. I went from an Atari 2600 and Odyssey 2 to an Atari 400.

From there, I went to a Sega Genesis, then an Xbox, and finally an Xbox 360, which is currently broken due to the Red Ring of Death. (Can those things still be fixed?)

7. Console-wise it was an Atari 2600 to a Nintendo Wii / XBox 360 / PS3

Computer-wise it was a bit less drastic: Commodore 64 > Amiga 500 > Amiga 1200 > Gateway (Windows 98) > Home-built PCs

I did play several games on borrowed N64s and a PSOne in the past, but the only ones I've ever owned were the 2600 and the three last-gen consoles.

8. It's about the happen in 2016 for me.

Having been a video game aficionado (sounds better than nerd I guess) I have always had a system from the last generation in some form, be it PC or console.

VR is going to change the game so to speak - I think once it takes hold it will blow all of our collective socks off.

Yeah, it certainly will be interesting to see how that progresses. I did read an article from somewhere the current games have not come close to meeting the capabilities of the new generation of consoles. I'm due for a game purchase very soon here, tough decision.

Do you have Bloodborne? If not, that's worth looking into - I absolutely loved it. Batman comes out next Tuesday as well.

13. So many games, so little time

Well, I read your comments about Witcher 3 and that may be my next game. I buy a game and play it all the way through before I buy another. Everything I have read about Bloodborne makes it sound like it is very very difficult. Witcher 3 may be my next one, just not sure yet. I'll try to wrap up Dragon Age this weekend if I have some time.

14. You can't go wrong with either one.

If you're in the mood for another epic RPG then you'll be well served by the Witcher. Tremendous value - easy to get 80hrs out of it. If you want to see everything probably another 40 hours. I am nearing the end at 75hrs. I still have lots of things to explore but the main and side quests will rack up an easy 80hrs.

Bloodborne can be mind meltingly difficult but it is a most excellent game. If you have never played a Souls game there is nothing out there like them. I am on my phone but I can elaborate once I get home.

15. I think the biggest leap was from SNES to Playstation 1.

I held onto my SNES for ages(still have it), but going from that system to the ps1 was a huge jump in graphics and gaming. Since then I've kept up on the new systems, ps1 to ps2, to ps3 to ps4.
