(29,853 posts)A cruise to several ports of call is great in that you get to see several locales. You can get some pretty good deals if you shop around. The ones that I have been on only cost about $100 per day, including food.

Cancun, Grand Cayman, Florida Keys, Bahamas. Note that all are nice and warm! You may be able to guess why I picked these locales.
Good luck.

(17,055 posts)Spent the month of November there. The weather was great, even at that late date.
We like to rent Condos in MB and in Florida. Perfer Cabin's in Pigeon Forge, TN.

(17,055 posts)when I was raising my family. Sorry, it's my turn now. You well traveled people will have to stay home and support the local economy now, lol.

(11,304 posts)would be surprised how much money you can save doing that. Of course that is if you go to a lovely country. I don't know how far you want to go. Canada is so beautiful and the people are really nice. But where ever you decide to go have fun. If you go by yourself make sure you stay connected to your family by cellphone. Good luck. I'm glad you don't listen to me. I am old now and I am so tired of travelling.

(5,235 posts)Don't let the bad image sway you. Florida has many wonderful little secret places.
You just need to find the right local to point them all out to you.
Cheers.

(36,529 posts)I've stayed in Clearwater, Disney and Ft. Lauderdale.
Each time the weather has been beatiful. And we have enjoyed ourselves. Where are some places that are off the beaten path? The guys in the family like to do some golfing. Me, I like to read, walk on the beach and eat well!

I might be away from my comp soon tonight.
I will find you tomorrow with some nice Florida options.
Cheers.

(34,748 posts)the cayes off the coast. I stayed on Ambergris. I don't dive but it was fantastic snorkeling and the water is beautiful. Best of all it is a casual place where you eat fresh lobster, walk around bare-foot if you wish, and many of the hotels don't even have tv's in the rooms (or huts). Paradise.
Here is where I stayed: http://www.ramons.com/

(8,694 posts)You like to walk and read and eat well, it would be perfect. It's quiet, peaceful. not even traffic lights, and miles and miles of white sand to walk on, collect seashells, and watch the waves. Just returned from a week there for my 60th birthday. Re-read Anne Morrow Lindbergh's "Gift's from the Sea" on the beach. She wrote it while staying on Captiva nearly 60 years ago, the island connected to Sanibel.

(5,262 posts)Then head down to the southern hemisphere. I liked Argentina and South Africa.
Unless you just want to laze in the rays, then there are closer destinations.
