to Alaska and back in 2012. It was a blast. We took the ferry from Port Rupert to Juneau and off for a nite. Then ferried to Haines City. Slept on the ferries and got a double bunk room so we could each sleep on the lower level of the bunk as the top is way close to the ceiling. Drove around for days sightseeing and fishing. Melt the coolest people along the way. Returning we ferried from Whittier to Valdez and then drove to Dawson City and spent 2 nites there because we liked it so much. All told we spent over 2 weeks in Alaska and a lot of days in BC. The entire trip was about 2 months from Florida back to Florida. I would recommend it to everyone. NOTE: All that happened to the truck was a burned out tail lite!

What a hoot!! 13,500 or so miles in 44 days. On the way back we went from Prudhoe Bay at the very top all the way to Key West Florida. Coast to coast the hard way.. I was surprised by the amount of Florida lic plates in Alaska.. I even met another Motorcycle rider from Florida and only two towns over from me!! Worst weather was in Iowa. Got caught in a tornado and had to hole up in a state rest stop.. scary!!
Best retirement give EVER!!!

I will say our trip to Alaska was one of a lifetime. SO many great memories. We met a couple that live about 9 blocks from us here in Florida way up in Alaska. Like you said - what a HOOT. And on motorcycles yet. WOW

the Alaska trip was on my "bucket list" When I mention my trips to other bikers they just
ASSUME I either rented a bike up there or trailered the bike up. I do a little "humble bragging" and say I could not afford a trailer so I had to ride up....HA! All in good fun...
I was surprised to see how BIG Buffalo and moose are!!! Things you don't want to hit while on the road...
