Hello!
Just a little question for y'all... I am heading up to Washington, D.C. on Monday to visit with some friends, and we're looking for some different things to do up there. I lived within an hour of the city while I was in college, so I definitely took advantage of going to the Smithsonian museums, the sites on The Mall, Crime and Punishment Museum, Holocaust Museum, Corcoran Gallery of Art, Walter Reed Museum, the zoo, walked around Georgetown area, saw the documents, etc. etc. Ya know, all the big touristy things.
Anyways, I was wondering if anyone could give some suggestions for different things to do. We'll be up there early-ish until after dinner (restaurant suggestions would be amazing, too!!). We are taking the metro in from NOVA, so we would need places that could be walked to from a metro stop or using a bus as transport.
Any and all suggestions would be awesome!!!

(136,758 posts)unless you'd like to walk around etc Capitol Hill. Library of Congress?
Was going to suggest hanging in Georgetown. Lots of restaurants. Looks like it will be around 90 degrees, so not exactly sauntering weather, and you'd have to take a taxi or find a bus.
Pick museums you're particularly interested in?
Check movies at Union Station? The building itself is gorgeous, there are restaurants and shops, and its on Metro.
Have fun!

(34,704 posts)Some folks see all the monuments but forget to explore this one - Theodore Roosevelt Island. It is an island in the Potomac and you get there via a footbridge in Arlington.

Also, rather than Georgetown you could take the train up to Bethesda and walk around there - lots of restaurants.
