Enjoyed reading about your sailing trip and especially about the seafood forays in which you indulged.

I lived in that area before I moved to NJ. I loved visiting places like Old Saybrook. I lived in Windsor Locks; if I recall it wasn't too far from where the governor at the time was from. Another part of New England that I liked was anywhere there were old inns. It made me happy to be in those old places.

Thimble Islands, though: forgot or never knew about them

My job required me to visit Glen Cove. It was decades ago and I met a work associate for cocktails. I remember being so shocked that i had to pay $8 for a martini!

I also recall many trips to Salem and Plymouth Rock. It was such a big deal to me to go to Nathaniel Hawthorne's House of the Seven Gables (English major). I bought a book that has a chapter on each of the accomplished New England writers and their birthplaces or homes. I've always wanted to read the works of each one and then visit their birthplace. Of course, I taught all those authors in literature classes.

The mass hysteria that affected the Salem Witch trials reminds me of something going on now..What could that be? Hmmm, you may have rekindled my interest in that. I'd like to view the History Channel documentary on it again.

Fourteen East Coast states on a sailboat is by no means a small accomplishment, especially since I know all the work that goes into sailing.
