(1,135 posts)it's human nature that sucks....
That's a quote I'd heard years ago, but can't remember who, for the life of me.

(33,579 posts)I love mankind, it's people who suck.
Or as K said in Men in Black; " A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals, and you know it."

(1,135 posts)Thanks for that great blast from the past, Jim.
I had a really good friend, who has passed. We used to bemoan the fact that we weren't born shallow, instead of being painfully aware of injustice, half-jokingly.
That isn't an easy way to be, as many here on DU can attest to.......

(13,029 posts)And those who are actually familiar with them know that the words they contain often have many different meanings, or shades of meaning. Something which has ironically sped right past you, since you actually cite multiple meanings here.
And even so
if an 8 year old shoplifts a candy bar from a store, is that morally bad? Yes. Is it "evil"? Not by any sensible definition. If a linebacker tackles a running back hard and tears his ACL, has he caused him injury? Yes. Is what he's done "evil"? Ridiculous. So clearly neither of your definitions applies here.
Try again. See if you can find definitions that actually apply to your original question, because without those, it's worthless.

(19,705 posts)As you defined it to anothe poster,
Still leaves it open to interpretation. For example, many religious believers think it is "morally bad" and "causes harm" to society to be LGBT, so it follows that by that use, being LGBT is "evil."
Surely YOU don't think being LGBT is evil, right? Yet many religious believers do.
Until you provide a specific definition of "evil", how can your question even begin to be answered?

(118,282 posts)that might sometimes be described as "good" could in other circumstances seem "evil," depending on who benefits or does not benefit
