In the Spirit: Sean Hannity and Annie Laurie Gaylor duke it out over Gideon Bibles

22 hours ago • DOUG ERICKSON | Wisconsin State Journal | derickson@madison.com | 608-252-6149

Last night on Fox News, host Sean Hannity took on Annie Laurie Gaylor, a co-president of the Madison-based Freedom From Religion Foundation.

The issue: Should state-owned university hotels allow Gideon Bibles to be placed in guest rooms? The foundation recently won two victories on the issue, getting both UW-Madison and Iowa State University to remove Bibles from campus guest lodging.

The interview started off pleasantly enough, with Hannity and Gaylor reminiscing about their lengthy history of sparring.

"It's been a long time, Annie. How are you?" Hannity greeted her.

Gaylor insisted she indeed is offended by the Bible, describing it as a book that "sanctifies genocide" and "that says blasphemers should be put to death, that homosexuals are an abomination, that women are subordinates and that it's OK to abuse children."

Hannity shot back: "You get off on insulting people's deeply held religious views. I know that's part of your thing."

Yep, Sean, them are some religious values to cherish
