A prominent Catholic priest serves on the board of an right-wing hate group whose leader just said that liberal professors "should all be taken out and shot."Monsignor Anthony Frontiero leads St. Joseph Cathedral in New Hampshire, and is a recent former member of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace. But he also serves on the Board of Directors of the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute, whose president made headlines last week for his remarks that "the human-hating people that run modern universities should all be taken out and shot.
"Monsignor Frontiero's involvement is helping this hate group masquerade as a legitimately Catholic organization -- and undermining Pope Francis' efforts to focus the church on Christ's radical message of love.I just signed a petition telling him to resign from the board of directors. Will you join me?

(62,411 posts)one thing about the catholic church is that it is a hierarchy. Some bishop, arch bishop or cardinal might be concerned about bad publicity. I am no public relations guy, but that may be more effective.

This priest is a member of two different hate groups, one given more excuses by the left than the other, and the other having a leader who doesn't know when to shut the fuck up for publicity's sake.

(51,907 posts)Dear Faithful America member,
Great news: After more than 15,000 of us signed the petition, Monsignor Anthony Frontiero announced that he's resigning from the board of the right-wing Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute (C-FAM).
But there's another Catholic leader who's still on the board, and helping to provide cover for their hate and extremism: Robert Royal, a Catholic literary scholar and the president of the Faith and Reason Institute in Washington, D.C.
Can you call the Faith and Reason Institute and ask for Robert Royal to join Msgr. Frontiero in resigning from C-FAM? Be polite, but point out that the it's deeply uncatholic to call for anyone to be "taken out and shot" -- or to advocate, as C-FAM does, that gays and lesbians should be thrown in prison.
