There are still many who consider themselves "culturally" Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, etc.

Europe has more Muslims and America more Jews, but otherwise about the same.

Assuming you can trust the Pew study (I have no basis to say), it would mean something doesn't line up. Perhaps the Europeans are not "true Christians?"

although that number is decreasing, especially among younger generations.
