(2,262 posts)If Good Friday is the day that Jesus was crucified, then why is it regarded as "good" by Christians?
Some suggest the term comes from calling this a "good" or "holy" day. Others that "good" is a corruption of "God."
Other might suggest that Jesus dying is "good," in that it saves us (cf. substitutionary atonement).
On the other hand though? We curiously end up calling the day that Jesus was killed, good.
Not sure what this says about the psychology of believers. And/or the accuracy of their language.
Any speculations?
