(35 posts)Growing up as a Lutheran, I learned that "He has risen" was the greeting that early Christians used when meeting other Christians. I don't know how many times I have greeted other with that saying, only to be greeted in turn with deer eyes in a headlight look. It doesn't surprise me though. Few churches I have visited since my youth touch on the first four chapters of the New Testament only around special holidays, and spend the rest of the time on the Old Testament and the Letters of the Apostles, which puts fear into religion.
As long as He is in my heart and deeds, I have no fear. Someday I will find a church that sticks to the words the He spoke and pays no attention to the fears that are meant to scare us into believing. (Sugar vs Vinegar)
He has risen
He has risen, indeed!

(15,800 posts)I sent that same video to my siblings, reminder of Mom's clear soprano singing that hymn, her favorite, at St. John's Cathedral in Denver.
Thanks, and Happy Easter to you!
