(Reuters) - A Harvard University student group plans to hold a re-enactment of a satanic ritual on the school's historic campus, drawing criticism from local Roman Catholic officials, who expressed "deep sadness and strong opposition" to the plan.

I'm OK with this, but I can see why some are upset. What to do?

If what he wanted was publicity, then the Catholic Church is certainly providing that for him, aren't they.

This seems to be proceeding in a serious manner. Will this actually take place? If it does, under the heading of historical research, and is not meant as a real invocation of Satan, then I have no problem. If it is done as a stunt in order to offend, then I frown on it. That type of thing just hurts the cause of true religious freedom. Just like Piss Christ.

I won't judge Greaves, but I will keep my distance.

On another note, here is a quote from a link:
He seeks to declare independence from the one institution in the world that has, for two thousand years, defended the dignity of the human person against those who would use and abuse others for their own ends.

IS HE KIDDING ME?

Like I said, they are giving him the publicity he so craves.

But that is a pretty stunning quote.
