Whatever happened to "WWJD"...?

IIRC the phrase "What Would Jesus Do?" was big in the 90's with evangelical christians...

But it seems like from the Bush Era onwards they didn't give a flying fig about what Jesus would do.

Am I remembering correctly or do people still say that?

that Jesus would be a Republican, a conservative, and would be against big government, etc. So....they have changed the rules about WWJD. They think they ARE acting as Jesus would act.

But I don't think they are still using "WWJD" after it became a joke---what would Jesus drive, what would Jesus read, what would Jesus watch, etc.

basically, people have a load of political preferences in their heads, which they then impose on their religion. Political beliefs are stronger and more powerful than religious beliefs, so in their mind, Jesus would indeed be a Republican.

if he were released into the custody of today's (U.S.) "Christian conservatives" ... you know, the ones who would have questioned his ties to "radical movements" in the Middle East ...

Remember, Jesus went against the established religious bigwigs of the time. You think the Pope and his pedos would let someone knock them off their throne?

To remind them to be patient, tolerant and forgiving. It brought them back to ground, when they were starting to do something they could not picture JC doing.

One time where I lived I was getting angry, because the neighbors were having a party and I wanted quiet. I think I was being territorial, or something, LOL.

At the time I was hanging out with some 'agape' type Christians, who were into unconditional love. With my friends and I, everything was forgiveness, everything was a miracle, and everything was to be shared.

While fuming over the laughter and noise outside my place, the question suddenly popped into my head, 'What would Jesus do?'

It hit me that Jesus would have gone out there and joined the party. He got himself a very bad reputation for doing that, you know.

I figured he would rejoice in the living and treasure those moments. So I chilled out.

Anyway, that's opinion of what WWJD meant.
