(2,101 posts)On my way home two weeks ago stood a woman with a cardboard sign on a corner near the store. The traffic thinned out on the next block so I wheeled a quick u-ey, went back and gave her five dollars.
In this forum there is no need to say what she said afterwards. I will look for her tonight and say, "I would like to share in the profit from horrible torture and murder day" and give her 2 slices of thickly cut ham from the deli. I wonder what she will say tonight?
eta: Enjoy the ham!

(2,101 posts)it's just a guess, but perhaps the tomb-like darkness of the night had driven her to the shelter of a nearby church - things were running late for me this week.

(11,573 posts)He gave a hungry and probably homeless woman money for food. She thanked him as graciously as she knew how. All good.
Now, in return for that thanks, he proposes to use his position of privilege to demean and possibly frighten her. That's sadistic.
The question is, what kind of person would do that?
A second question: what kind of person would defend it?

(11,573 posts)And by the way, Justin isn't trying to "lure" you into Interfaith so he can ban you, either.
AtheistCrusader
(33,982 posts)Not really your concern. He and I agreed to disagree, which happens frequently.

(33,982 posts)I do what I can.
And for the record, since you didn't bother to ask, yes, I am pissed at you for how you treated some of my friends, every time you get control of a group. You're not the first internet moderator I've encountered you know. If you think yourself coy and clever, think again.
hrmjustin
(71,265 posts)there were those who wanted to permanently ban you. I voted no because I thought at the time you did make honest efforts to stay within the sop. All four of us agreed to your one month banning.
In the prayer circle I as host will not let people who have said nasty things about religion or people of faith trash religion in that room.
AtheistCrusader
(33,982 posts)I did clarify. If you can't remember a post from this month about this subject, and you can't be bothered to look at your own posts to find it, I'm not your monkey, and I'm not going to do it for you.

(33,982 posts)A snipe hunt is a specific type of "wild-goose chase", where a person embarks on an impossible search. Where a wild-goose chase may be accidental, a snipe hunt is always initiated by a second person, as a prank.
So that means I should not be able to find any posts of you replying to jury alerts on my posts then, being 'a fools errand' and an imaginary task.
Here's one.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1218&pid=186529
You can figure out the rest on your own.
(I said I wasn't going to help you, but I wanted to dispel your meritless accusation of 'snipe hunt'. Recall my comment here was "Especially the ones you have commented on.", so that's valid.)
Edit: And I see my memory was accurate; less than 30 days ago.
Sorry you weren't able to recall it. Funny too since you specified it was a 'useful alert'. Perhaps it was not useful after all.
okasha
(11,573 posts)I do remember that thread, but what I remembered about it was your comment that you'd be more restrained in the future. That's why I felt the alert was useful, a warning flag to you.You got away with calling Justin a bigot, as well as a direct "fuck you" to him. Either of those would normally have gotten a hide, and this one should have. One juror voted to leave the post because "atheists get discriminated on," rather than on the post's content.
I'm not sure why that set off a "YOU'RE OUT TO GET ME!!!!!" reaction, but whatthehell archie.

(33,982 posts)Serious question.
Especially given our history in Interfaith.
You recall every thread I participated in in Interfaith on the front page had >20 posts the day you decided I 'went too far sir', when I called out a poster calling a blatantly gender segregated event as 'beautiful', because some element of it was somehow otherwise endearing? (The fact it hadn't happened before, even though the church had no legal right to refuse even if they wanted to?)

(2,101 posts)In the early eighties while processing some paperwork for a prospective recruit, I called his recruiter to my office to correct a discrepancy in his enlistment kit. The address given by the recruiter was an intersection, and being a stoic a*hole at the time declared that I would not process his paperwork until an address as required by the regs was provided.
The commanding officer called me to his office, stating that he understood that I was having a problem, but that there are many good people living under bridges. He asked if I still had a problem. Since then I have not, and do what I can, how I can, and without judgement.
I seriously doubt many in this forum do as much as I do for others in need, although if throwing money at their problems is your only gauge, preach on.

In my opinion, when you are dealing with second or third hand stories it is probably not very accurate and more than likely very embellished.
