Hyderabad: A day after tension was witnessed in Santosh Nagar area on account of controversial Ahl-e-Hadith preacher Moulana Jarjees Ansari, the South Zone police swung into action to prevent similar incidents in future.
It was on Thursday that deputy commissioner of police (south) V Satyanarayana hurriedly convened a meeting with the imams of mosques affiliated to the the Jamiat-e-Ahl-e-Hadith located within the limits of south zone.
In the course of the meeting, the cops conveyed to the Jamiat that in case they plan to organise speeches by prominent persons within the vicinity of the mosque, the imams or others associated with the mosque would have to first obtain prior permission from the south zone police.
The Imams too conveyed a message to the police that despite applying for permissions well in advance, they are not being processed easily at the police station. Responding to this, the DCP said that he would look into the matter and permissions would be expedited.
