Scott Harbach: Democratic Party has become an atheist party

August 8, 2016 by 8 O'Clock Buzz

8 O’Clock Buzz host Brian Standing interviews Democratic Party, US Senate Candidate, Scott Harbach, in the studio his morning. It is the eve of the Democratic Party primary election run-off, pitting today’s guest Scott Harbach against Russ Feingold.

From the front page of Scott Harbach’s official website www.harbachforsenate.com

“Somehow God has been pushed out of the Democratic Party and it has become an atheist party. Many Democrat voters believe in God and are discouraged because their voice and values are ignored by the party, yet they want to vote Democrat and have no other option. I am an Independent Democrat giving you the voice and representation that you have lost. I am not owned by wealthy donors or special interest groups that have stolen both parties. I am an Independent Democrat fighting for you and fighting for America, so help me God.”

Polls open at 7:00 a.m., August 9th, and are open until 8:00 p.m. You will need an acceptable form of identification to vote. To find out the location of your polling place, what kind of ID to bring, and how to register on election day, go to myvote.wi.gov.

"I believe in miracles," Harbach said of his chances of winning the primary.

Exactly which values are being ignored by the party? It seems to me that many Democratic Party politicians hold many moral values similar to those expressed in the major religions. Helping those less fortunate, being (somewhat) anti-war, anti-death penalty, being against cruelty towards animals, being good stewards of the environment.

3. Overly broad brushed the party. But, I can understand how he comes to that opinion.

The main ideals of Christianity and other religions are best effected under Democrats. Republicans do the opposite and talk a facade of religiosity. IMNSHO.

It is profitable enough for the current right wing to purchase trolls that make any Democratic site look like it is against anyone of religion to enjoin that site. DU especially. And, the most vocal ones on DU oft come at someone in a pack which has left me suspicious on many occasions. It is very easy to get software that would allow one or more paid operative to come at other posters with an army of sock-puppet names.

With or without the case of paid trolls, sites are subjected to this and it does keep Democrats from getting votes from the large voting block of religious Americans.

And, I think that is what he is talking about.

end with an invocation to the Christian God?

Isn't that enough for the religious? What more do they want? Their God in the party platform? Why?

If only the United States had truly secular political parties, that would be great, at least then those of us who aren't religious wouldn't be shunted to the side in the name of religious privilege.

As far as being shunted goes, it's either yourselves or themselves that are going to be shunted. They are currently the larger group. And in America, larger wins.

Being a bit repressed you might understand how black people and women feel about the governance they would like.

4. The First Amendment is the sole guarantee of religious freedom

Whether it be freedom OF religion, or freedom FROM religion. The government is prohibited from establishing a state-sponsored religion. And politically-motivated religious litmus tests such as this one help to clarify why the First Amendment exists to begin with.

9. Thankfully, Feingold beat Harbach comfortably.

Thankfully? Well, yes, because when you look at Harbach's message:

I see those who divide us with words of hate and acts of terror. I see leaders and racial antagonists putting their own personal agendas over the safety of America and Americans. I see politicians being out of touch with regular people and only pandering to the tension between the races. I see political correctness and a biased media limiting freedom of speech. I see the distrust of communities with the police that are supposed to protect them. I see executive orders protecting radical Islam and criminals by limiting how the F.B.I. can investigate them. I see America falling unless drastic changes are made. If I am elected to the United States Senate, I see myself working to improve police and community relations. I see myself helping to protecting our nation against enemies abroad and at home. Someone has to stand up for America and I see myself doing so…so help me God.

you'd wonder if he was running for the Republicans after all. Complaining about "executive orders protecting radical Islam and criminals by limiting how the F.B.I. can investigate them"?

The Associated Press called the race at 8:45 p.m., 45 minutes after polls closed. Feingold won with about 90 percent of the votes. The former senator earned 303,282 votes compared to Harbach's 33,105 votes, according to Associated Press vote totals.
