Atheist group proposes monument on Capitol grounds

Staff Report

LITTLE ROCK — An atheist group has requested to erect a permanent monument on the state Capitol grounds and will make its presentation next Thursday.

Secretary of State Mark Martin announced Wednesday that Subcommittee One of the Capitol Arts and Grounds Commission will hear a proposal from the Saline Atheist and Skeptic Society.

Officials say the group intends to erect a “Wall of Separation,” apparently to represent the separation of church and state.

The group had already made an initial presentation, but committee members asked for more specifics on design.

The Saline Atheist and Skeptic Society has proposed erecting a monument like this one on the state Capitol grounds between the Capitol and religious monuments. The group will make a presentation next week in Little Rock.

The numbered spots on the brick wall will be plaques with quotes on the wall of separation between church and state.

And will Rome take a cue from Trump and refuse to pay for the work?

As to the main story, this will undoubtedly inspire certain theists to introduce legislation allowing churches to construct similar, faith based walls. The end result could be a maze.

And amazing.
