Increasingly troubling to the faithful that Disney is exposing our children to a progressive agenda
The evangelical leader Franklin Graham is challenging Christians to stand up for their beliefs and sit out Disneys new remake of Beauty and the Beast.
I hope Christians everywhere will say no to Disney, Graham wrote in a Facebook post several days ago.
Graham said he met Walt Disney when he was a young boy. He believes the visionary entertainment leader would be shocked with the direction his company now has taken.
While left-leaning people may applaud the new era of Disney many Christians may find themselves at odds with the company and the products it puts out. Do Christian parents, who believe traditional marriage is between a man and a woman, really want their children watching a movie that promotes an LGBT agenda?
Matt Philbin, managing editor of the Media Research Centers Culture section, wrote earlier this week that the movie is regularly scheduled cultural suicide.
We need to learn to paint the picture better, to show the truly beautiful way, the way of strong and lasting marriages that unite in godly love to build the next generation, Gilson added.

'Exclusively gay moment' causing sharp reactions on both sides of the aisle
Disney strategically pushed the LGBT agenda this week by airing the first homosexual kissing scene in the cartoon Star vs. the World followed by the dramatic announcement of an exclusively gay moment in the much-anticipated live action Beauty and the Beast. And as typical, if anyone is in any way offended or opposed to what the Left deems acceptable, that person is hateful.
The truth is, Disney has long flirted with homosexual characters in an are-they-or-arent-they context. There have been several effeminate male characters, theories, and gay overtones. And for the most part, this has been ignored by conservative Christians who still believe in traditional marriage.
This is a test of the conservative waters. How far can the media push things before the bottom line is affected? And it will be interesting to see how conservatives in middle America who most recently swayed the 2016 election react at the box office.
See, its difficult to politely decline this particular discussion. The time for passivity is gone. Because one side of the argument insists that homosexuality is natural and normal. And the other side believes that heterosexuality is the intention and creation of God, that marriage is between one man and one woman. It is a conversation that quickly grows heated and personal.
..
Just as the media seem baffled by falling ratings of particular shows or stations, they do not understand why parents object to their children being inundated with messages that go against their personal faith. Its simply because its insulting to ask for someones hard-earned money to see a movie and then have that movie push an agenda.
Maybe its time people to speak up verbally and monetarily. Maybe the message needs to be sent that its all right to agree to disagree but dont expect surrender.

(115,692 posts)really want their children watching a movie that promotes bestiality? The movie is about a nontraditional marriage between a beast and a woman. That's OK?

And here's a thought, how much of the population pretend to be believers (ugh, gag again) to get things...
Like tax breaks, hands on children, membership to secret societies and on and on?
Religions beliefs or absence of, should be a private covenant, confidential contract. There are, potentially, as many gods to be had as there are beliefs to hold, or not.
Everything else is theatre in three dimensions with the cha-ching sounds in the background.

(49,533 posts)It implies that true religious believers are always good people - and that bad people are always non-believers who are "pretending" or "faking it".
I think there are devout religious believers who sincerely think the horrible things they do (in our opinion) are fully endorsed or even commanded by their god.
I mean, there are people here on DU who claim to be Christians, and whose claim I accept, who exhibit what most people would say are un-Christian behaviors like lying and insulting others. Am I wrong? Are they really atheists just pretending to be Christians?

(22,656 posts)The Varieties of Religious Experience: A Study in Human Nature is a book by Harvard University psychologist and philosopher William James. It comprises his edited Gifford Lectures on natural theology, which were delivered at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland in 1901 and 1902. The lectures concerned the nature of religion and the neglect of science in the academic study of religion.
It is one of my favorite books. You can download it for free.
