Related: About this forumNun Gives Lawmakers A Lesson In Morality With Ten Commandments Of Health Care
From the article:
As House Republicans gear up to repeal most of the Affordable Care Act, one fearless nun is speaking out about the moral implications of leaving millions of Americans potentially without health care.........
Some might frame it thus, but the RCC is not a monolith, it is composed of many millions of believers. And like any large group, opinions and politics vary. It is easy to focus solely on negatives, and this is useful if one has a particular narrative to push, but any nuanced examination will reveal that reality is far different from any simple narrative.
Part of the proposed 10 Commandments:
1
. Thou shalt provide affordable insurance and the same benefits to all currently covered under the Affordable Care Act.
2. Thou shalt continue to allow children under the age of 26 to be covered by their parents insurance.
3. Thou shalt ensure that insurance premiums and cost sharing are truly affordable to all.
4. Thou shalt expand Medicaid to better serve vulnerable people in our nation.

Who framed it as one? Please support your claim.

(42,641 posts)4. To refresh your memory:

The use of the word might shows that this is not a declarative statement.
And I did not say "time and time again, people have said......"
trotsky
(49,533 posts)5. "Some might"
Like who?
On what do you base that speculative statement?
You seem to be dodging the question. I wonder why? People might think you have some kind of agenda.
guillaumeb
(42,641 posts)6. An agenda? Me?
Well yes, I do.

(49,533 posts)7. Great. So on what do you base your allegation?
Please answer the question.
guillaumeb
(42,641 posts)8. The phrase "some might" is not an allegation.
It simply is not. So you can frame it as an allegation if you wish, but calling an apple a pear does not make it a pear.

(49,533 posts)9. That's exactly how FOX News works.
"Some say" was their go-to approach to sow the seeds of hatred, bigotry, and intolerance. They could allege something without actually claiming to have said it.
Very disappointing to see the same tactic in use right here on DU.
