Related: About this forumAs in all parts of DU, interest in threads in the Religion Group
can generally be determined by how many replies that thread generates. The number of views isn't that useful, nor is the number of DU Recs an OP receives. What demonstrates interest is discussion and the number of replies is the best indicator of interest.
I used to participate frequently in this group, but left when most threads I saw here were some negative sort of posts about atheism. That appears not to be the case at this time, so I'm back in the Group, looking at threads and posting some of my own. Previously, I found posting here was little more than occasion for some sort of personal attack on myself. That, too, seems to have died down, somehow.
I hope to continue to post and reply here, and will continue to do that, as long as it interests me to do so. I always hope my original posts here generate a lively discussion. So far, so good.

(33,982 posts)The demographics of the room shifts at times, and some marquee pro-religion folks have quit or been vanished, so the tone now is very different than it was a year ago.
And some religious people here are probably feeling now, a bit like you felt then.

(146,331 posts)I've been doing it for a very long time. For the time being, I'm here in this group. As long as there is meaningful discussion here, I'll probably continue to visit the group and post and reply. If there is not, I'll go somewhere else to talk about it.
I will do my best, though, to remain polite and peaceable here.

As a believer, I think that it's important to examine (and challenge) one's faith, so I appreciate the wide variety of opinions expressed here, including your well written/well thought out posts.
