https://www.irishtimes.com/news/social-affairs/religion-and-beliefs/two-trainee-priests-sent-back-to-ireland-after-being-found-in-bed-together-1.3491779Two seminarians at the Irish College in Rome have been sent home by the rector Fr Ciáran OCarroll after being found in bed together.
It is understood both men had been drinking earlier at an event marking the 50th anniversary of Pope Paul V1s 1968 encyclical Humanae Vitae, which banned artificial means of contraception.
It is unclear whether either man will be permitted to resume studies for the priesthood. A spokesman for the Catholic bishops said it was not appropriate to comment about individuals when asked about the matter.
In August 2016 the Archbishop of Dublin Dr Diarmuid Martin said he would no longer send trainee priests from the diocese to St Patricks College, Maynooth, because of a worrying atmosphere at the national seminary.

Because there's nothing worse than a priest engaging in sexual activity with a consenting adult.

The Church only cares if you get caught.

(49,533 posts)5. Well, as noted, only if you're both consenting adults.
If it's a kid, you'll be quietly transferred to another parish, or perhaps even set up in an apartment in Vatican City as you quietly contemplate your sins. Such harsh punishment.

That's a given.

(16,844 posts)7. Considering that Humanae Vitae banned artificial
contraception, maybe the men thought that gay sex was a natural form of contraception. Maybe Pope Paul VI would have approved, I mean as long as the men weren't using condoms, of course.
