sorry I don't have access to the OED, but meta- has to do (unlike a simile, a similarity, as in things that are like one another, though different in essential ways) with a more essential relationship, more of a fundamental kinship. I think of the perceptual ground out of which things manifest, like a bas relief, that which stands behind an identifiable class of phenomenology.

Greek would be a very interesting language to understand, although it is broadly accepted amongst linguists that there is an older "Mother Tongue" that would have been more similar to what we know as Hindu.

One basic meaning of 'meta-' is the next outer layer of a Russian doll of self-reflective relation, like 'metalanguage" and 'metameta(...)language.

Everyone has a different view of what a god is or what god will do.
I just wanted to get a feel of what the group thought.
Some believe in no gods.
Some believe there is only one.
Some believe if there is a god then there are many gods.
The ones that believe in only one god do not see that god the same way.
How can I define what a god is under these circumstances??

Each one of us has to come to our own definition

29. How do YOU define "god"?
Mon Jan 14, 2013, 04:34 PM

For me, I define it as the idea that an entity exists outside of the natural world and reality that we inhabit, yet has the ability to interact with this reality/world.

How about you?

It's from the Tool song 46&2. Has to do with our 46 chromosomes and the evolutionary addition of an additional 2 to bring us to the next level of consciousness (becoming god).

Many Tool songs deal with (and very nicely too) spiritual, consciousness, religion, etc...

Have a listen.

Lateralus is also a really cool song. Entirely based on the Fibonacci sequence and spiral (count the syllables in the opening lyrics. 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 5, 3) and being one with the now through transcendence.

Spiral out...Keep going...

ENJOY!!!!

10,000 days is about religion, belief, suffering...

My favorite part is at 3:30...

You're the only one who can hold their head up high
Shake your fist at the gates saying
I've come home now!
Fetch me the Spirit, the Son, and the Father
Tell them their pillar of Faith has ascended
It's time now
My time now
Give me my
Give me my wings...

And as for "One" and "Nothing", all layers of set theory can be derived from the concept of empty set.

and by so many people over the ages that the answer must be zero (0). They have all said their's is the one true god or multiple gods in the instance of polytheism and all others are not worthy of consideration. This is a rather absurd argument therefore my conclusion to all of this is there are zero (0) gods.

"Since the beginning of recorded history, which is defined by the invention of writing by the Sumerians around 6000 years ago, historians have cataloged over 3700 supernatural beings, of which 2870 can be considered deities. Those numbers are probably a very conservative estimate because we have no accurate information before 4000 B.C. This means any dieties worshipped by man before this period are unaccounted for. "
