An advocacy group is accusing the Stokes County schools of unlawfully promoting religion, promoting Christianity, (and) forcing students to listen to religious speeches or prayers at school ceremonies, and the group remains unsatisfied with a school system response to those complaints.
Among the concerns of Americans United for Separation of Church and State are prayers at school board meetings and graduation ceremonies.
The group was part of a lawsuit that successfully challenged Forsyth County commissioners over their use of sectarian prayers at the beginning of meetings. The group also is challenging the display of the Christian flag and a monument with religious symbols at a King park honoring veterans.
The chairman of the Stokes County Board of Education said Tuesday the schools are violating no laws and will not change anything. A big crowd is expected at the school board meeting Monday for a discussion of the issue.

There is a poll at the upper left side of the article at the link, asking: "Do you think prayers should be said before meetings of the Stokes County Board of Education?"
Tell 'em what you think.
