Great and wise theologians in the Religion Group have indicated that Liberation Theology is the standard now for what is Christian theology and yet the newest pope has soundly rejected it. How does that mesh with the views of what Christianity is within the Religion Group?
And I really don't understand why everyone has their sphincter tingling because this guy is not European (well, his parents actually immigrated from Italy so let's not pretend this guy is really Hispanic) and he seems to truly feel for the poor. This guy is clearly just as homophobic and sexist as any other RCC leader. If we elected a President in the US that had this guy's political views, DU would be declaring him an asshole. No question in my mind. But this guy seems to get a pass. Don't get it. Well, I do get it, but it pisses me off to see Progressives do that.

I don't understand all the happy on DU regarding this guy.
