..when I was in my teens and remembered being moved by it. Years later it completely slipped my mind. Thanks for bringing it back to my attention. Now hoping I can find a Blu Ray version of it

9. He had some sort of serious illness that most likely led to him having lifelong

hallucinations, serious episodes of depression, evidently he had delusions of grandeur and he also faked what they call stigmata, which is nothing more than self inflicted wounds and then he lied and said it was some magical thing some invisible being was causing or some irrational crap. He would be in a mental ward today on some serious medications if he were around today.

11. Did you just make that up or do you have anything that substantiates it?

Generally, people are only put in "mental wards" in this country when they present a danger to themselves or others or are unable to care for their basic needs.

Did he fit any of those criteria, in your opinion?

12. The guys family was very wealthy so I was assuming they would hospitalize him today

He was experiencing visual and auditory hallucinations, he was injuring himself and claiming some supernatural force did it, he experienced periods of deep depression and he was chronically ill and acted like he might have thought he was a fictional character.

If he lived today, I think his family would have him under the care of a doctor at least and probably in some sort of institutional setting depending on what he was suffering from and whether or not it could be treated successfully.

That's my opinion.

I have never seen that before, but it could be true.

Then again, maybe he never presented any danger to himself or others.

There are cultures, even today, where people with illness are seen as having some greater value and insight.

Dismissing him and all he did as something that needed treatment and assuming he would have been institutionalized depends on a lot of assumptions.
