An I Ching Reading About America's Future
I had been in contact with someone on the internet who recently turned me on to the possibility of doing I Ching readings for other people. I tried doing that and found out that it worked. And so, I started to think big and asked myself, "Why not do a reading for the nation and its future?" After all, we are now at a very critical juncture in our nation's history. So, my question to the I Ching was this:
How will America finally resolve the Donald Trump crisis?
The response that the I Ching gave me was Hexagram 1 Ch'ien, the Creative, changing to Hexagram 26, Hsiao Chu, The Restraining Power of the Great, with lines 4 and 5 changing.
Hexagram 1, the Creative, consists of all Yang lines - very active and dynamic. The image said that the Superior Man makes himself strong and untiring. By this, it seemed obvious that the way to resolve the Trump crisis is for everyone to get involved and active - we can't just sit this one out, folks. If we do this, promises Hexagram 1, we will have sublime success.
The text for the fourth changing line reads: Wavering flight over the depths. No blame. Reading the commentary for this line, it seems like America is going through an identity crisis, wondering whether it should play the very active and outgoing role in the world that it has traditionally played, or withdrawing into solitude for self development. There is no hard and fast rule, says the commentary, of which is right, and which is wrong. It's something that we will have to decide as a nation according to the innermost promptings of our own being.
The text for the fifth line reads: Flying dragon in the heavens. It furthers one to see the great man. The commentary reads: Here the great man(the US and the angels of its higher nature) has attained the sphere of the heavenly beings. His influence spreads and becomes visible throughout the whole world. Everyone who sees him may count himself blessed. This seems to prophesy that after America has resolved its identity crisis and found itself it will experience a period of resurgence to an even greater position than it had previously enjoyed, and will be a blessing to all the world. Have hope!
The second Hexagram, #26, The Restraining Power of the Great, is the Yang power of Heaven within the Mountain, which is restraining it and holding it in check. The time that is coming is one in which we need to strengthen ourselves by cultivating our character, not thinking of ourselves alone, but earning our livelihood by entering into public office. If we do this, even difficult undertakings, such as crossing the great water, will succeed.
