21,000 sign petition to support former Catholic school vice principal

A petition in support of former Eastside Catholic School Vice Principal Mark Zmuda will be hand delivered to the Archdiocese of Seattle Wednesday.

More than 21,000 people from across the country signed the petition through faithfulamerica.org, which asks for Zmuda to be reinstated as vice principal. He lost his job after he married his partner in a legal same-sex wedding.

Zmuda is challenging the decision but school officials don’t appear to be changing their minds.

The controversial dismissal sparked an outcry from students at Eastside Catholic and a nationwide response.
