Drumph's 'losers' are often winners in God's eyes
Alright, so who else besides me has pretty much had it with the "Trumpertantrums" ruling the news these days? Yes, I'm a political junkie, but the Donald has pushed me to embrace a salutary fast from obsessive media megaphoning of this distressingly hollow man.
T. S. Eliot's insightful poem is sadly apt:
We are the hollow men
We are the stuffed men
Leaning together
Headpiece filled with straw ...
While Eliot's poem hints at a piercing longing for God within all that vacuity, it also ends on a note of cynical desolation:
... This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.

It's also true that Drumph's winners are losers in God's eyes: the selfish, greedy, hateful, etc.

(18,470 posts)Of course I think too many Catholics and other Christians are reading from bibles where that line in Matthew 20 has been redacted.
Drumpf and his supporters will be real surprised when they find that in addition to the poor, the prisoners, the addicted, etc etc that, Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you." (Matt 21:31)
And yeah that line has probably been redacted as well.

(24,761 posts)Father was saying that many Catholics are risking Hell because too many of us (as a group) look down our noses at the poor, prisoners, gays (transgendered individuals weren't yet talked about), and drug addicts, for instance, may be getting to heaven faster than us.
He effectively said that Christians, including we Catholics, are the modern-day scribes and Pharisees and the LGBT community, drug addicts, and ex-cons are the modern-day tax collectors and prostitutes. Food for thought.
Needless to say, I was taken aback, as well as some of the parishiners in the pews near me.

(18,470 posts)Not Bishops who the first time here from pissed off rich donors remove the priest from parish ministry. Bishops who will say to these pissed off donors tough s--t, this priest is doing what he's supposed to (and may the day come when I can revise that to he or she).
